Most people can't imagine living without a car because they have become such a big part of most of our lives, but could you do without one? Although it's a big change, ditching your car could save you thousands every year.

How to reduce your stress levels

Stress has now been linked to an increased risk of developing Alzheimer's, and on a day to day basis it can make your life miserable. You might not always even feel stressed, but it can manifest in all sorts of symptoms, both subtle and severe. Here are some easy ways to keep calm.



Exercise

You're stressed because you don't have time to do everything, right? And working out generally gets pushed to the bottom of the list. But it's worth ditching something else less essential and making sure you get at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week. It might feel a slog to begin with but both the physical and mental benefits of exercise are proven. Plus, it'll give you breathing space where you're not contactable by your mobile and can get out all your aggression. And it doesn't have to be the gym, try kickboxing classes, climbing walls or canoeing to combine activity with learning a new skill, which will give you something else to focus on.

Deep muscle relaxation
This takes about 20 minutes but if everything's getting on top of you it's worth locking yourself away to concentrate on calming down. Begin by taking some deep breaths. Then focus on a part of your body, such as one foot. Tense all the muscles in your foot as tightly as possible and count to 10. Then relax it and enjoy the feeling of all the tension flowing away. Repeat this for the other foot and move your way up your body a muscle group at a time, allowing your whole body to become relaxed.



Talk to people
Sharing your worries really can help reduce the burden. Allowing people the chance to help take some of your responsibilities off your hands may also make a real difference to the causes of your stress. It's tempting to think it'll be easier if you do everything yourself, but discussing problems can crystallize what you need to do and hearing other people's points of view can put things in perspective.

Be nice
There's some evidence that just doing someone a favor can be good for your stress levels. Being kind to someone or helping out can improve your well-being and make you feel better. Attending to other people's concerns and problems can make yours seem more manageable.



Schedule tasks in priority order
It's time for that old faithful, the To Do List. Rather than making you panic about everything you have to do, write down a schedule with tasks in priority order so you feel like you can realistically take them on. Just by writing it down, you've made a start and that should make you feel better.

Everyone complains about having the worst job. Whether it's "working extra hours", "working on the weekends", "not getting paid enough", or even "I slept with my boss, now I can't face him anymore!", anyone else has a better job than you do. But sometimes we stop to wonder if this is genuine hate or the regular hating everyone does. Here are 10 signs that will make that wondering stop!


Still wondering if you hate your job or not?


1.You don't hear the alarm: when it takes you a whole hour and three snoozes just to get out of bed, admit it you don't want to go back there again. You'd rather stay home and do laundry instead of getting dressed and heading to work.


2.You hate your co-workers: and by hate I mean smile to their faces, joke around with them all day, but once you're home you don't want to ever see them again! When they call you to go out on the weekend you pretend to have something more interesting to do (and that would probably be sleeping on the couch with a big bag of chips!).


3.You don't want any more: no more tasks that is. You don't want to put in any effort to complete a new task because you simply know it would be taken for granted. You start asking yourself questions like: "what am I doing here", " is this where I want to end up", and "is this even stimulating for me"? And then you answer No to all these questions.


4.Miss the deadlines: you just can't hand in the work on time. You keep missing one deadline after another without even caring to bother. Its either your boss gave you too much work to handle or you're simply slacking.


5.You don't show up: you come up with the silliest excuses, killing half of your family members just so you wouldn't have to go there again. You don't even care if your boss "bought it" or not, you said your grandma died and believed it!


6.You're getting demoted: and it didn't move you one bit. You probably even thought to yourself "the hell with it, its not like I was PRO anything". You start to accept the fact that you're getting paid less for the same job you used to do for more. You even sometimes negotiate with your boss on fewer tasks to do for less money.


7.You talk about it like it's on TMZ: every conversation you have revolves around how insanely crappy your job is. Not necessarily complaining, but rather mentioning several times that you just hate it.


8.You look like 1 dollar: no where near a million dollars and definitely not even a 100! You would rather go to work in your PJs, and even when you meet your friends for coffee after work; you look like the crazy cat lady beggar just around the corner of the street.


9.You're not proud of what you do: when someone asks you where/ what you do, you reply with your given job title rather than explaining what it is that you do exactly. You don't mention the company/ firm you work for but rather say "an accounting company downtown". You couldn't be more ashamed of what you do.


10.You don't care if they fired you tomorrow: you think of it as a golden opportunity to go try new things and try the job you've always wanted.


We've all had bad jobs, we had jobs we had to stick to just for the money, others just for the title, and some for not finding anything else to do. Whatever your reason is, if you're not happy with your job, QUIT! Life is too short to be in a job you hate and remember "money doesn't buy happiness"!

SHISHA…!! A FLAVOURED STEP TO DEATH.



SHISHA..
a modified form of  Hookah, water pipe and narghile is known to mankind since centuries. Shisha is different from traditional Hookah as flavored   and aromatic tobacco is used instead of plain raw tobacco.

COMPOSITION. The tobacco used in shisha weighs 20 to 30g and it has 3 main forms.

  1. MU'ESSEL. Contains 30 % tobacco and 70% honey.
  2. TUMBAK. Is a pure, dark paste of tobacco.
  3. JURAK.  Which contains fruits or oils.

Studies have shown that shisha smokers have reported high concentration of nicotine, carbon monoxide, tar and heavy metals in their blood.

 

HAZARDS OF SHISHA. Unfortunately most Shisha smokers are unaware of its harmful effects. Most shisha sellers misguide their customers that it is merely a flavored smoke and there is no tobacco in it. In fact, shisha smoker may inhale as much smoke during one session as a cigarette smoker would inhale consuming 100 or more cigarettes.

                           The World Health Organization (WHO) has released an eye-opener report on consequences of shisha use. A commonly held belief is that shisha is harmless as the smoke first passes through water before it is inhaled. Even after passing through water, shisha contains a high level of toxins.

                          Tobacco used in such water pipes is often sweetened and flavored, making it very appealing to children and teenagers. A recent survey done on youngsters of school-going age in Karachi, showed that almost 70% students had tried shisha in the past six months.
                          WHO has strongly recommended that healthcare professionals must educate the public about the dangers of shisha as the sharing of shisha between people poses an additional risk of TB, herpes, meningitis and hepatitis transmission.

 

 


MYTHS AND TRUTHS.

 

MYTH #1: Hookah smoke is filtered through water so it filters out any harmful ingredients.

TRUTH #1: Smoking tobacco through water does not filter out cancer-causing chemicals. Water-filtered smoke can damage the lungs and heart as much as cigarette smoke.

 

MYTH #2: Inhaling hookah smoke does not burn the lungs because is cooled through the water in the base of the hookah.

TRUTH #2:  Even though the smoke is cooled, it still contains carcinogens and so it is unhealthy.

 

MYTH #3: Smoking shisha is healthier than smoking cigarettes.

TRUTH #3: Shisha/Hookah smoke is as dangerous as cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke is generated by burning tobacco directly, while hookah smoke is produced by heating tobacco in a bowl using charcoal. The end product is the same i.e. smoke, containing carcinogens.

 

MYTH #4: Shisha smoking does not lead to addiction as a cigarette does because there is no nicotine.

TRUTH #4: Just like regular cigarette, shisha also contains nicotine. In fact, in a 60-minute hookah session, smokers are exposed to 100 to 200 times the volume of smoke inhaled from a single cigarette.

 

MYTH #5: Herbal shisha is healthier than regular shisha.

TRUTH #5: Just like smoking herbal or "natural" cigarettes, herbal shisha exposes the smoker to tar and carcinogens.


 

OTHER FACTS.

  • Compared to a single cigarette, hookah smoke is known to contain:

->Higher levels of arsenic, lead, and nickel.

->36 times more tar.

            ->15 times more carbon monoxide.

  • Smoking hookah requires longer and harder drags, increasing levels of inhaled nicotine and carcinogens in the lungs.
  • The longer the hookah session, the more nicotine and toxins one accumulates in.
  • A 45 to 60 minute hookah session exposes the smoker to approximately the same amount of tar and nicotine as one pack of cigarettes.
  • Sharing mouth-pieces without washing them can increase the risk of spreading colds, flu, and infections—even oral herpes.
  • Risks of smoking hookahs include Lung cancer, heart disease and dental diseases.
  • Even being in Shisha bar and not smoking can indirectly expose the person to all above risk factors.

 

Keeping above facts in mind, it is clear that going to a Shisha bar is like stepping in a death well…!!  Whether you smoke or just sit in that smoky atmosphere is equally hazardous. This silent killer may engulf your dreams and future and one may remain in a flavored dilemma only.
